“All Good Things Must Come to an End”

or do they?

In 1972, the Alumnae Association, established a Trust Fund Award in Mother St Margaret’s name to be given to a graduate who would continue their education by pursuing a University degree.

It was established in her honour as a gesture of appreciation and recognition of her years of dedication to education and continued learning.  M St. Margaret had a long history with Loretto being a teacher and Mistress of Boarders and Principal of Loretto Abbey.

The Brennan women, all Loretto Abbey graduates, organized the fund with support from numerous families of Loretto and Alumnae. They donated enough monies to create a Registered Scholarship Trust Fund. It has historically dispensed $500 to both Loretto Abbey and Loretto College graduates. It has been a part of the Alumnae Association’s collection of Awards for over 40 years.

This fund has been administered by a Chief Trustee and Financial agent within the Executive Committee for the Alumnae Association.

The account has now run below its required amount. Without an infusion of funds, the Trust Fund will have to be closed forever.

It is bitter sweet to be at the end of such an important and honorable endeavor started so many years ago to honor an icon of incredible educational values.

The Loretto Alumnae Association would like to thank the Brennan Family and all the families that created this special Award. It does not go unnoticed of how much it helped so many graduates / women to continue their education and thus fulfilling their dreams.
