Loretto Abbey is hosting after-school STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and SHSM (Specialized High School Major) Outreach Assemblies starting in January 2019. They are looking for speakers who work in a business, ICT (Information Communication and Technology), non-profit, STEM and/or media-related field and are able to come in to speak in front of students.
Speakers will talk about the struggles, benefits and regrets as they were pursuing their desired career path. Assemblies will run for an hour after school once a month and be held at Loretto Abbey.
The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is an Ontario ministry-approved specialized program that allows students to focus their learning on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and assists in their transition from secondary school to apprenticeship training, college, university, or the workplace.
