On Wednesday, October 2, 2019 the Loretto College School class of 1964 presented the LCS chapel with a beautiful statue in honour of Sister Wilfreda.
Sister Wilfreda celebrated her 78th year as a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Loretto Sisters). She ad a long career as a teacher and/or principal in Guelph, Stratford, Niagara Falls and Toronto, followed by pastoral ministry in Brampton and Guelph.
When Sister Wilfreda passed on November 30, 2018 the class of 1964 decided to honour Sister Wilfreda’s contribution to our community.
Mary Denisco, Chaplain at LCS, would like to thank all of the class members who participated in the tribute, along with Sr. Evanne and Sr. Jane Dunbar for always being so supportive.
How lovely! She was my Latin teacher at Loretta Abbey in Toronto, one of the best teachers I ever had!
What a lovely tribute to a very special teacher and principal.
Shaaron, hello. We tried to reach Bernadette to be part of this reunion and statue ceremony as she was with us from grade 9-12. Can you connect us somehow? I am on Facebook under my name, Mary Elia. Many thanks.
Hi Shaaron. We have been trying to locate your sister, Bernadette. Would you be able to reply to me?
The statue was the culmination of 1959 classmates’ 60th friendship reunion held on September 15/19.. if anyone knows of any of our mates who were not contacted let us know, we are still searching for more. Please contact us, Clara creglia
Great tribute and beautiful statue.
Beauty and tenderness can describe this unique piece of art; well deserved by Sister Wilfreda. We thank you, team: for the choice, our participation possible and the statue’s placement to its honoured spot.
