At the Abbey

Mary Donaghy attended Loretto Abbey from 1976 to 1981. Mary was very active in student life; she participated in student council, head of house, yearbook, debate club, and model UN. When she wasn’t studying in the school, she worked part time in the Loretto convent kitchen, where she got to know many teachers in their own home.

Getting Personal

Mary has raised three children, now young adults.  She is passionate about helping all young people get as fortunate a start in life as she did and has an interest in mentoring. In the spirit of paying it forward, Mary reached out to the Alumna board to express interest and willingness to act as a mentor to any young graduates thinking about or beginning a career in government, at the federal, provincial or municipal levels.

Getting Professional

After getting her Bachelor of Arts from St. Michael’s College, U of T, Mary went on to complete a Masters from Dalhousie University. Since then, she has had a richly diverse and rewarding career in the federal public service in Halifax, Toronto and Ottawa.

Mentoring Opportunity

If you are a young graduate interested in a career in government please reach out to the Loretto Alumna association.
