At the College

My favourite memories at Loretto all involve my nearest and dearest friends who have become more like sisters over the years. We all found each other in different ways and somehow made the link that we were better as one unit. It’s because of them that I learned to be comfortable in my goofball shoes, sing and dance like nobody was watching, and be ok with sharing my drink (still not really ok with that, but I’ve stopped fighting it).

I am forever grateful for meeting my drama teacher, John Lynch. He recognized almost immediately that I was the “class clown” and helped me find my voice as a comedian and performer. Thanks to him, I got my start in television after introducing our class to a casting director who lived in the school’s neighbourhood. One fateful audition led to my first professional job in the entertainment industry…and first job ever in high school.

Getting Personal

What have you been up to?

Relaxing, I’m doing at least 3 different things at the same time (for example, as I write this, I’m also watching RuPaul’s Drag Race and eating Oreos like a boss). So when I’m not at work, I’m pursuing other passion projects in comedy and music, working off the Oreos in and out of the gym, and raising my amazing twin 5-year olds with my equally awesome husband.

Getting Professional

All throughout my last two years of high school, I had been preparing to get into an engineering program in university, but landing the TV role changed my life. I decided to follow my heart and go to Ryerson’s Radio & TV Program. Since then, I’ve worked in the industry for over 15 years both in front and behind of the camera, and have done everything from shoot footage 3,000 feet in the air in a hang glider, write and perform a custom show for Google’s New York office, work on trailers and posters for some of Canada’s biggest filmmakers, and direct my husband in an award-winning commercial. You know, the usual 9 to 5 stuff.

My heart thumpity-thumps for creative expression of all forms, laughter, music, empowering kids, and exploring and taking care of dear old planet Earth.
